I mean the whole reason that we were given stimulus checks is to keep the velocity of our economy from completely coming to a halt or at least mitigate by how much it would slow down. I don't know whether it worked or not nor if it was even necessary but that's what the explanation given to us.

Dan is so delusional here. At 50k per year, you are more than likely paying close to 9k a year in Federal Income Taxes at 18% (just for an example). The money WE are paying goes into paying off a debt that our own government racked up over the years. The stimulus check, which is tax money we all paid to the government, that the government gave back because we were going through hard times. He's so backwards on his logic. We need to give people more spending money to create a trickle-up, and we should be paying people who already have jobs. By just giving people unemployment, you're incentivizing laziness. You'll make people willfully lose their jobs, to go on unemployment instead. And why get a job if you're possibly going to make less money by working? The point of a "stimulus" check is to "stimulate" the economy. Giving people money to pay their delinquent bills isn't helping the economy grow. That money was already spent. Making a car or house payment is just paying for something you already have. People have to buy new things to "stimulate" the economy. Buying stuff you don't need is what makes an economy grow, and is also a sign of a strong economy. If everyone is conserving money and eating top ramen, then businesses are going to fail. But if everyone is buying jet ski's and plane tickets and hotels and fancy restaurants, then all those business owners and employees will knee deep in business and money and they will buy cars and yachts and houses and so on. That's why it's called a trickle up.

The problem isn’t that we got stimulus checks the problem is that we live in a society that allows people to work full time and still need financial assistance. Seems to me that working part time should cover your living expenses and then working full time is if you want to have a slightly improved life style.
