  • I liked Crenshaw. Thought he was a standup man of principles - until I saw ( incredulously) that he had voted with the other GOP members to support Trump's attempts to overturn the election. And while it may be he felt he had to to maintain support in his district amongst the GOPers who are pro Trump and anti everything else - I would have expected a man of prior military service to put his country before his own interests in re-election.

We all see how both sides act, they’re both power hungry and acting like one is more than the other is just something you’d tell yourself to help you sleep at night.

  • Perhaps related to the pussification of America ? Women tend to be more agreeable... leading to developing a group think opinion. America seems to be trending towards a more feminized state , hence the highly polarized state of political discussion that occurs when large segments of the population coalesce around opinions , which due to having been agreed upon by a group... are then assumed to be correct and unassailable

  • The Left Wing have become "the establishment" (or more correctly, left-leaning types have control of The System) and thus project the orthodoxy of the Left Wing which now dominates the cultural landscape (including the media). The Right Wing is the counterculture and thus are painted as fringe, insurgent and dangerous. The fact that it's traditionally conservatives that build and maintain societies shows us why The West is now in decline - because the mainstream is composed of the leftist mindset and thus cannot help but deconstructing/change institutions from the inside. Unless conservatism retakes control, The West is fucked.

    British ObserverBritish Observer8 klukkustundum síðan
    • This perspective is too married to the American notion that there is 2 clear sides, not leaving any room for crossover. Do you mean in terms of social policy or economic ideals? Both categories should not have any correlation but are always thought of as part of a certain team. Will banning Gay marriage and abortion save everyone? Even if you only mean the reduction of Government interference, It is a huge oversimplification to suggest this is an automatic fix, bearing in mind the the Great Depression and 2008 economic crash (that we are still feeling the effects of) took place under Coolidge and Bush who were both Conservatives. Of course the majority of media favours the democrats but can you really assure that if Fox News was just to take over everything with the same partisan nonsense and Mitt Romney was given the Presidency for life that everything would be fixed? Wouldn't it make more sense to approach every issue without these clear set of ideological rules and instead do what is best for that situation. To avoid saying "this is what conservatives do so regardless of the context we should enact it" and instead reject the 2 teams that disagree on everything ideal. It shouldn't be conservatives taking control, but reasoning and a rejection of partisan politics. At the end of the day, they're just concepts, not a set of rules to abide by.
