  • This guy is crying about not being able to be comfortable in a monopoly within the greater Monopoly of the world. misery is calculated by taking that which is produced by a monopoly over economy and monetary unit to give us the formal misery index. Although and despite the fact that it is actually calculated based on unemployment rate and rate of inflation the fact remains that the true route components are Monopoly of economy and monetary system that are used to ultimately achieve the misery index. Therefore we have the formula from which to understand the true root cause of all human generated misery on the planet. So in essence we see how this gentleman is actually complaining but not being able to have a comfortable position within the Monopoly of the academia to be able to reap the rewards of that Monopoly as well as the greater Monopoly that operates outside of the academia which makes up the greater world Monopoly. The arrogance of this man and or naivete I don't know which one the characterize them with. But people never cease to amaze me. At the end of the day the academia operates as a monopoly which bids up prices and reduces the quality of education. This is what all monopolies do, ultimately monopolies lead to economic boom bust cycles, which has the effect of transferring wealth from the many to the few.when you have a genuine free market prices tend to go down and quality of service or product goes up. When you have monopolies prices tend to go up and the quality tends to go down. And the academia is no different and is subject to the same fundamental economic principles and formulas. Have a nice day

The processes are varied in application, determined by the environment and those in power including how far they are willing to go. Because of the verbiage and technical “jumble” of real explanation and just total BS. There are reasons for not talking about it and just listen to the response of Joe, he is tossing stones in the road, which causes me to turn off the vid because it becomes highly convoluted, especially if a person does not know how this game goes.

  • I listened to this podcast the other day. They were talking about music being subjective or objective. Neither were qualified to make the point clear. As a musician who's looked at this closely, music IS primarily objective. Pretty much ALL of the music we listen to follows the same rules. If you break it down to it's harmony and rhythm it all uses the same rules. The main reason why people have different tastes in music is due to exposure , especially when young. What mostly differentiates things is the sounds that are used and the order things are put in, and for the most part, if it's just what's being played on the "radio" for the general public, it's very simple stuff indeed when broken down to its fundamentals. So, whether you ENJOY something or not, usually has fuck all to do with the fact that much of it uses the exact same rules, and more to do with what you've been fed by your surroundings, and these days it's usually what you're being sold by those who want to make money from simple songs that easily resonate to an ever decreasing simplicity in what they feed you, hence, most people CAN'T enjoy many of the more complex forms of music that fills this planet because of a lack of exposure and peers telling others that "this kind of music is shite" so the predetermined view, combined with the lack of knowledge that in order to enjoy many forms of more complex music ,it takes time and repeated listening for the penny to drop with much of it, and as a musician my whole life, and many would agree with me, is a very worthwhile venture, but it's time consuming and you have to drop your biases, and everyone has them, in droves, but unless you understand these things, I don't want to hear what most people seem to believe, which is based on an extremely limited view on how the whole thing works. All good music follows the same rules , whether it be Jazz( which can mean a ton of stuff these days) pop, classical, traditional, country, or anything you can think of. So, it's a bloody objective TRUTH, end of fucking story. I can find the exact same chord progressions in the fucking lot. Have a nice day.

All I was saying in my mind the whole time was 'Eric, just brush this off keep the same positive attitude and come back again' *cause the Weinstein brothers are secretively very sensitive and I know Eric does feel Joe's withdrawal,* perhaps they'll bring that up next time. IDK, I recommend you guys go watch the full episode on Spotify - if you want to be irked

Right now I’m listening to Joe teach Eric the differences between objective and subjective. Has Joe lost a lot of brain cells in the last few months since I’ve stopped listening to him? Or maybe the Buffalo Trace was taking over? This is the worst show he’s done.

  • So it’s being discussed on other podcasts that Eric thinks he’s a genius and just goes on and about how he’s old work not getting picked up. I got the sense he think he’s entitled to great praise when other academics think he’s just average at best. What he is good at is schmoozing and being charismatic as his ego is high. They also suggest he thinks he should have just been able to put in his research to various places and they would just automatically accept his work due to his brilliance but that’s not a) what happened and b) that’s how it actually works. Sounds like a guy that believes his own crap so much so can’t understand why he’s not getting the recognition he thinks he deserves and then blames “the system” rather than himself.
